Peter Highman is flying home from Atlanta to Los Angeles and expects to arrive just in time for the birth of his first child. However, traveling by plane no longer becomes an option when he and a fellow passenger, aspiring actor Ethan Tremblay, are kicked off the plane. Peter, who ends up with no money or his suitcase, is compelled to hitch a ride with Ethan. As they get into one misadventure after another, the questions become whether Peter and Ethan will survive the trip together, and if so if Peter will make it home in time to witness the birth of his baby.
